What’s In My Makeup Bag?

Natural Makeup Products I Am Currently Using

Hey Hey Hey!

So I did an Instagram poll a few days ago because well, I wore makeup to work as a nanny and thought it was absolutely hilarious how many comments and compliments I got about how I looked. Like, yes, I actually took a minute and tried today, thank you for your kind words.

Honestly, I really just thought the kids’ response to how I looked with makeup was the best. They said things like “did you paint your eyes today?” and “Did you go to church today Ms. Caylee?” Mind you, it was a Tuesday, and I was currently at work, so there was really no way that was possible. But isn’t it just adorable how the minds of kids work? It’s literally as simple as you look different, why?

Anyways, so I mentioned that I have been able to wear makeup more often lately because I actually have thrown out ALL my old toxic crap I used to smudge on my face and splurged a little to replace it with some all natural, non-toxic, nice to my skin kind of makeup. I asked you in my instagram poll if you were interested in finding out what products I am currently using and 93% of you were interested in reading about that so here we are.

Nontoxic Makeup Products I Am Currently UsingClick To Tweet

I am going to share with you the brands and exact products I am using, as well as their rating on the ThinkDirty App. Please keep in mind that makeup is definitely one of those trial and error things, so what works for me might not work the same for you, but hopefully it can help you learn more about the product, and the products that you are currently using to help you make better choices as far as makeup and skincare!

Just a reminder on how to judge your products based off of the ThinkDirty Ratings, 0-3 is green, natural, safe to use, 4-7 is yellow which means that it’s got some ingredients that have proven to have some negative side effects, maybe aren’t as gentle or nontoxic. Some of these products are okay to use in moderation, just use your best judgement! 8+ is something that is red, which means you want to do your best to avoid it regarding the products you use in your home and especially on your body. Some of the products in my bag are yellow, again, use your best judgement and check out the ingredients, what works for me might not work for you.

Here is a blog post about makeup and skincare ingredients to avoid that I have read and use as a reference

So here’s what’s in my bag:

  • bareMinerals Prime Time Brightening Foundation Primer
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 3 (GREEN)
  • bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Fair 01
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 4-7 depending on shade (YELLOW)
    • Toxic Ingredients:
      • Titanium Dioxide (rated 7)
      • Zinc Oxide (rated 4)
  • Luna by Luna Highlighter
    • There is no ThinkDirty Rating, I actually got a sample from my mom from her ipsy bag.
    • Ingredients: mica, talc, dimethicone, magnesium stearate, mineral oil, ethyl hexyl palmitate, magnesium aluminum silicate, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, titanium dioxide, may contain (+/-): titanium dioxide, mica, iron oxides, red 40 lake, yellow 5 lake.
  • Pacifica Pink Nudes Mineral Eyeshadow Palette
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 3 (GREEN)
  • Burt’s Bees Nourishing Mascara in Black Brown
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 0 (GREEN)
  • Tarte Mascara – Maneater
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 3-5 (GREEN-YELLOW)
      • I couldn’t find this exact mascara on ThinkDirty, but all of their mascaras fall within the range of 3-5, so I would use your best judgement. This is also the mascara that makes my eyelashes look long, eye popping, and amazing.
  • Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Peony & Guava
    • ThinkDirty Rating: 0 (GREEN)

So yeah, right now my makeup routine is pretty simple, mostly because I don’t really have all the things most girls do that make it long and complicated. I’m excited to continue to fill my makeup bag with clean products.

As an update, I have worn makeup all day for the last 3 days since my husband and I have been at the PushPay Summit and my skin is free and clear! This is huge for me because I am definitely used to having a week long breakout just after wearing makeup for like, a day.

Much love,

Caylee

I feel like this post is a sign… I’ve been wanting to put more effort into my looks lately and I am usually super lazy and hardly ever wear make-up OR look after my skin, even though I KNOW how much better I feel whenever I DO! I’ve heard great things about Bare Minerals, perhaps I’ll finally have to give their products a try.

Meet Caylee

Hey there, I’m Caylee! I am 28 years old, been married for 4 years, mama to a sweet and adventurous toddler, expecting little brother in May 2022. I started blogging in January 2017 and this blog has grown with me as I go through big life changes and spiritual change. After an early pregnancy loss in April 2021, I took an unexpected break from blogging and this site is currently in a season of transition as I rely on God to show me what to do with it next. I pray this blog is a way to spread the word of the coolest guy I know, Jesus Christ, with the world around me and to have authentic conversations about maturing in Christ, marriage, and motherhood as intentional Christian women.
