This time of year while we’re all searching for gifts for loved ones, and planning our holiday parties, many of us are also looking for ways to give back. I’ve done my research and I have included here in this post some ways to help out in the local area (MD & PA), but also some ideas to search for in your hometown for those of you reading this who aren’t in Maryland.
The Well is a community of women transforming lives through relationship, practical programs, and love. They are hosting their annual Christmas store this upcoming December 7th and 8th, 2018 and are looking for volunteers to help run the store for 4-5 hours.
Another way that you could help with this cause would be by donating new toys to The Well for community members to purchase gifts for their children at a discounted rate. They’re looking for new, inexpensive toys.
All donations can be delivered to 4710 Pennington Avenue, Curtis Bay, MD 21226.
You can sign up to serve at The Well by calling (410) 589-6670
Valley Youth House is an agency that serves underprivileged youth/youth in foster care.Every year they have a “holiday drive” where youth can give their caseworker a list of things they’d love for Christmas and they’ll be uploaded online for donors to purchase. Donors can purchase the gifts (or anything they see fit for the youth) and sends it to their office. If you don’t have the time to go through the whole process of buying gifts, you can always purchase VISA gift cards. VISAs go to the youth that don’t get sponsored. They always accept donations through our website as well. Money goes directly towards helping youth stay in their apartments with their children.

This population includes women and children who are victims of domestic violence, our nation’s veterans, and those suffering from mental illness.
Every Saturday, BMC volunteers go into Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County and serve approximately 300 people with hot meals, blankets, clothing, shoes, coats, gloves, tents, toiletries, etc.
This group will meet every Saturday behind Brusters in Glen Burnie, MD (801 Aquahart Rd, Glen Burnie, MD 21061) at 11:30AM
You can sign up to volunteer to help serve breakfast to the homeless, sort clothes, assemble kits, and other miscellaneous maintenance opportunities by accessing the link above. There’s never a shortage of need, you can sign up to serve with Manna House solo or with a group!
