Have you ever been bitten by the travel bug and you just have the itch to pack your bags and get out of town? I sure have… and when it seems unattainable I daydream of all the fun adventures I could be having.
You all said you were interested in hearing about where I want to travel and why. I figured in leading up to this I might as well tell you why I visited some of the places I have and why it may be worth it for you to visit as well.Have you ever been bitten by the travel bug and you just have the itch to pack your bags and get out of town?Click To Tweet
I have only traveled out of the country three times but have managed to visit a few of the states surrounding me here in Maryland. I have visited Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina, New York, and Florida.
Virginia is the city for lovers! Haha just kidding. I mean that’s totally what they’re known for but mostly I have visited this state with family. There’s tons of sweet things to do there contrary to popular belief. There’s amusement parks such as Williamsburg and Kings Dominion. Virginia holds a lot of history so when planning to visit here you will definitely find cool places like museums, battlegrounds, and other historic towns to walk through.
I also like to visit Pennsylvania. My favorite time to visit here is during the fall when we can see the farms and pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Pennsylvania just seems to have better ones than we do. Some cool places to visit there are Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. As someone who loves to see the history right in her own backyard I absolutely love visiting these places. There is typically some sort of event going on in one of those cities as well.
I visited New York City this past year around Christmas for the first time. I truthfully found the whole experience overwhelming and I would love to give it a second chance at a “less crazy” time of year. But maybe New York is just a little too much for me as more of a low key kind of person.
The reasons I like places like Florida, North Carolina, and Delaware is for one thing and one thing only. The beach. I absolutely love spending time in the salt and the sand catching some sun and making memories beach side. Most of my bucket list most definitely includes a beach.
Outside of the country I have visited 3 places. I went to Canada to see that side of the Niagara Falls. I went during the winter though and didn’t spend as much time exploring as I wish I had. I also visited my father’s family in England a few summers ago for about ten days. I was able to see both countryside and city side of England but definitely wish I was able to spend more time in London when I was there. It’s a beautiful city and I absolutely loved it. This honestly wasn’t my favorite trip for mainly family reasons but I have plenty of beautiful pictures and loved exploring this beautiful country.
Summer of 2016 I went with a group from my church to Honduras with Living Water International. This trip was amazing in many ways. It was incredible to see how God was able to move through my team and the Living Water team in Honduras to provide clean water and the gospel to the people who don’t know Jesus.
I’ve definitely seen some wonderful places in this world but I know there is so many more beautiful places to explore. On my list are the Cayman Islands, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Australia, and Israel.
Evan and I have already planned for our first anniversary to go to the Cayman Islands. There is something beautiful and intriguing about the clear waters and beautiful beaches.
Greece has always been fascinating to me. From the food, the architecture, the language. I am just so very interested in it. I feel like it’s got such a romantic feel that draws me in. Maybe that’s because of movies like “My big fat Greek Wedding” and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” but I have always wanted to see this beautiful country.
Spain and Paris to me are just go-tos. They are romantic, have great food, and I feel like if you’re traveling to Europe, they need to be on your list. Specifically Barcelona in Spain, and Paris in France.
One of the main reasons I want to visit Australia is because one of the major churches I follow is founded there. I would love to see where it all began and meet the people who founded Hillsong. I am obsessed with the music they write and I love listening to it when worshiping the Lord, my God. And also… How cool would it be to see a Kangaroo?
Israel, I never gave much thought to before coming to know Jesus. But since I have invited him into my heart and accepted the Gospel, I am intrigued to know more and more. I would love to see where it all happened and learn more about the history of Jesus.
So there you have it. Here’s where I’ve been. Where I dream of going. Where I’m planning on going, and where I pray the Lord takes me. What are some places that you want to see? Email me your travel bucket list for a chance to be featured on my Instagram!
Much Love,
Caylee
