Hello, Hello, Hello, and a very Happy New Year to all my wonderful readers out there!
I am very excited and motivated by the purpose God has placed upon my heart for this blog in 2019. I figure the best way to get started with all of this is to reflect a little on the progress made in 2018, and then to talk a little bit about what you can expect here on Coffee Talk as this year progresses.
In 2018 I announced that I am writing my first book, When I Married My Husband I Married the Church. This is absolutely still in the works but, came to a screeching halt halfway through last year because I realized… I am still a newlywed. Why on Earth am I trying to write a book about marriage, let alone what it’s like to be married to the church when I am only one and a half years into this thing. I have only been part of the church for a little over three years, I certainly DO NOT have the experience necessary to finish and publish this book.
SO. That being said, I plan to keep you along this 5 year road to finishing this book. Yes, five years. The “newlywed” phase of marriage lasts about 5 years, so you can expect to see this book finished, and published in the year 2024. YAY!
In 2018 we also launched the merch store… and lets just say, that was slightly less successful than I had hoped. Oh well. We tried right?
I have actually made peace with this failure because I truly believe strong people fail their way to success. One small failure like a clothing line meant to accompany this blog isn’t a big enough setback to throw me off course. Though I almost let it.
Through this failure, God was able to remind me of the sole reason I set out to do this blog in the first place. I’m here to tell stories. I am here to share with you about God’s abundant love and infinite wisdom. That’s some pretty amazing stuff.
I recently listened to the book Crushing It, by Gary Vaynerchek on Audible, and by recent, I mean this week. I binge listened to the entire book and finished it in two days. It was so insightful and offered many great ideas on how to grow an empire. And let’s just be honest here, that’s the end goal. Building an empire that glorifies Christ and shares about all His goodness in the lives of us here on earth.
I once heard it said that it’s not us who should be famous, but that we get to be part of making Jesus famous. And I mean, how cool is that?
This year, I really want for us to work together more. Seriously, you guys are the hands and feet of this community, this ministry if you will, and it’s your stories and support that makes it work. So it only makes sense for us to be collaborating on this.
This week on Instagram we started voting on a community slogan that perfectly encapsulates the mission here. As of right now, that is between “My Story Matters” & “Share Your Story”, maybe we could just combine the two into one long “My Story Matters, Share Your Story”. I don’t know. What are your thoughts? I truly think that together we will create something that inspires people to share their stories about what is doing in their lives.
What else can you expect in 2019? Oh gosh. So many things are in the works but, if you’re following along, you already know I am terrible at secrets so here you have it. I’m (finally) taking the plunge and making the podcast. This is definitely well overdue as I have so many stories that could easily be shared and listened to, in addition to the ones that can be written down. One day, I’m sure I’ll be confident enough to graduate to video content as well but… for now, you get to read my words, and soon enough hear my voice on matters of life, love, and health.
Speaking of, health is not a topic that we’ve generally talked about yet here on coffee talk, but, as I am growing, I think it’s only fair that I share this part with you. Over the last year I have been making intentional strides toward weeding out the toxins in my home and skincare routine, I’ve gone gluten & dairy free, and got serious about exercise. No, don’t worry, this isn’t another fitness blog, or food blog, or anything like that. I truly, deeply, and sincerely believe that part of living a Christian Lifestyle includes taking care of the temple (aka body) that we’ve been given. But more on that in upcoming blogs and podcast episodes. (holy cow, can you believe I just said that? Yeah me neither).
But wait! There’s more! If you haven’t already signed up for my mailing list, The Brewed Awakening, you’re definitely going to want to go ahead and do that. Starting Feb 2019 if you are part of this exclusive community you will receive a monthly devotional and reading plan as well as other awesome freebies like journaling prompts, phone wallpapers, and more!
2019 is going to be a year of creativity and I am so pumped. I’m even more pumped at the opportunity to grow in community with all of you and share in spreading the love of Jesus with you. We’ve got an incredible opportunity here to share the gospel in the best way we know how. And that’s something truly remarkable!
